Fans of Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) who enjoy the world of role-play servers (GTA 5 RP Servers) servers using the FiveM mod are facing significant changes after the recent acquisition of the platform by Rockstar Games. As a result, the use of real-world cars and the importation of maps from other games are now banned on all servers hosted on the FiveM platform.

These changes were communicated through the FiveM Community blog in October 2023, causing disappointment among many players. Creative freedom has always been a major draw for these RP servers, but users now need to adhere to copyright laws.

Real-world cars and map imports are prohibited on FiveM GTA 5 RP servers following the acquisition by Rockstar Games.

In August 2023, Rockstar Games acquired the developer of the popular FiveM mod, Cfx.re. In September, a new Platform License Agreement was released, resulting in the ban of real-world cars on all FiveM servers.

FiveM also emphasized that simply removing badges and trademarks from real-world car models (or their in-game counterparts from other game titles) would not suffice to comply with the new guidelines. Now that FiveM is officially a part of Rockstar, the use of such vehicles in RP servers without permission may result in legal actions for copyright infringement.

As a result, all real-world vehicles must be removed from FiveM GTA 5 RP servers to fully comply with the new Platform License Agreement. Players are encouraged to create their own unique vehicle designs.

Users were also informed that the importation of maps, whether from Rockstar’s titles or other developers’ games, is no longer supported on FiveM and Red Dead Redemption 2 RP servers using the RedM mod client, also developed by Cfx.re.

While most players have appreciated the introduction of new content in the weekly updates of GTA Online, the recent policies of FiveM have led to disappointment among the community.

Following the acquisition of Cfx.re by Rockstar Games, many players were curious about how this would impact RP servers for the developer’s next title, Grand Theft Auto 6. However, many are now less optimistic than before.
