Rockstar Games may not release GTA 6 on PS4, according to leaks.

While PlayStation 4 users may be skeptical about the possibility of the console running GTA 6 upon its release, a recent leak has brought some information on the matter. Most Grand Theft Auto 5 players still enjoy the game on PS4 and hope to be able to enjoy the next entry in the popular Rockstar Games franchise on the same platform.

However, a report by Tom Henderson (@Tom_Henderson) from Insider Gaming stated that Rockstar Games will skip the last-gen consoles, including the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, when it comes to GTA 6. He added that the American game studio plans to release the next Grand Theft Auto title only on current-gen consoles.

It is likely that Rockstar Games will launch GTA 6 exclusively on PlayStation 5.

On March 7, 2023, Tom Henderson published a detailed report titled “Will GTA 6 be released in 2024? Insiders suggest it’s likely,” where he mentioned a leak suggesting that Rockstar Games would abandon older-generation consoles and release the next game only on the latest generation of consoles.

Although Henderson did not specifically mention PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, he simply wrote “only current-gen consoles.” Currently, PlayStation 5 is the latest-gen console, and if Rockstar Games releases GTA 6 during the lifecycle of this console, it will apparently be exclusive to this system.

Henderson cited an anonymous source and stated that Rockstar Games is postponing the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 to ensure that current-gen consoles have enough players to meet the studio’s sales target. He also reported that the title has a tentative release date for 2024, which was set in 2021.

It’s worth noting that the upcoming untitled Grand Theft Auto game is expected to be one of the most ambitious titles ever created. Rockstar Games is known for improving its video games with each iteration, and fans expect nothing less from the next release.

GTA Videos leaks showcased enhanced gameplay

The leaked images of GTA 6, which surfaced in September 2022, showcased much-improved gameplay. According to many sources, the videos were from a pre-alpha stage. Despite this, they appeared superior to any other Rockstar Games project.

However, running this intense gameplay smoothly requires advanced hardware capabilities. The PlayStation 4 and its contemporary consoles have significantly aged and struggle to run GTA Online without any lag. Many players have also reported switching to the latest-gen consoles because of this issue.

As a result, the Grand Theft Auto community has accepted that the next game will not be released on PlayStation 4. However, they hope that Rockstar Games delivers a polished product, free from lags and glitches.
