New Grand Theft Auto may be much closer than expected, according to a leaker

Playstation 2 had three GTAs – GTA 5 had three Playstations. Most of you probably know the saying. And yet there is no official sign from the developer Rockstar regarding when the next installment of their popular gangster series might appear.

A leaker, of all people, now wants to clarify the matter. Twitter user Budz claims to have learned the release date of “GTA 6”. After all, the wildest rumors continue to circulate about the sixth title in the Grand Theft Auto series.

Plausible reasons for GTA 6 release date

Budz provides compelling reasons in their tweet: They write that the studio will announce the game in November or December. We have included the tweet for you below. But beware: it is very ambiguous and confusingly formulated!

Instead of the release date, Budz talks about an announcement on November 17, 2023. In other posts, they explain that “GTA 6” will actually be released next year – in 2024.

A major reveal during the Game Awards in early December is conceivable. A first trailer should also be released during this period. It appears the company wants to focus on maximum surprise effect: “It will shake the gaming world, the surprise of the century. Believe me,” says Budz.

According to Budz, the release date is November 2024, almost exactly one year after the official announcement. This would leave the developers with about twelve months for marketing and advertising.

Action taken against internal leaks

Budz also writes that Rockstar, in order to keep the game a secret until now, is spreading false information among employees to uncover leaks within the company. But they are 100% certain they have discovered the correct release date.

The leaked gameplay so far has been taken from old versions of the game from 2020 and does not reflect the current state of development.

Almost no concrete evidence

We also reported that a release was likely planned for 2024. However, even then, industry insiders like Tom Henderson suspected that a delay to 2025 was probable.

As always, with all this information, caution is recommended. While leakers’ claims often turn out to be correct, they cannot be independently verified.

Nevertheless, Rockstar’s latest financial report provides a strong indication of a release date in late 2024/early 2025. In it, the publisher writes that between April 2024 and March 2025, “several innovative titles that will set standards in the gaming industry” will be released. One of them is very likely “GTA 6”.

In summary, Rockstar Games is currently developing GTA 6, and more details will be revealed soon. The highly anticipated game is expected to be released for the next generation of consoles, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and also for PC with the Windows operating system.
