A devoted Grand Theft Auto enthusiast has taken it upon themselves to dive into some mathematical wizardry, offering fans a glimpse at the potential disparity in map size between Grand Theft Auto V and the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6).

While Rockstar Games has yet to officially confirm many details about Grand Theft Auto VI, a slew of leaks has led fans to speculate that the next installment might take them back to the iconic Vice City, revisiting the locale last seen in 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The excitement skyrocketed when leaked footage unveiled the “Vice City Metro” and familiar spots like the Malibu Club, Ocean View Hotel, Little Haiti, and Vice Beach. With Rockstar Games verifying the authenticity of this leaked content, it’s becoming increasingly probable that GTA 6 will indeed be set in Vice City.

Should this speculation prove accurate, it appears that the new map will dwarf the scale of GTA V‘s San Andreas, which was inspired by Southern California. A Reddit user created a fascinating comparison by overlaying the coordinates of GTA V‘s map onto what is believed to be the upgraded Vice City map.

“I’ve put together this size comparison using DuPzOr’s latest VI map revision and the coordinates shared in the videos,” the user explained. “I’ve accurately aligned the GTA V map with its in-game rage coordinates, giving or taking approximately 50 units in both the X and Y directions.” As someone who’s not particularly skilled in mathematics, I found this a bit overwhelming, but the accompanying image clearly illustrates the substantial size difference between the two games.

The user went on to add, “If you consider the highest and lowest confirmed Y coordinates in GTA VI from the videos, the map is already more than 1,000 rage units longer than GTA V‘s map. When it comes to the highest and lowest confirmed X coordinates in GTA VI from the videos, the map surpasses GTA V‘s map by over 2,300 rage units.”

Despite their apparent expertise, the user cautioned that the map could potentially extend “hundreds if not thousands of coordinates further,” but that’s impossible to ascertain without seeing the map’s boundaries. Regardless, it’s evident that Grand Theft Auto VI is shaping up to be on a grander scale than its predecessor, which might explain the extended wait for an official announcement, unless, of course, the rumors of an October 26 reveal hold true.
